✓ It is the oldest Camino, used by King Alfonso II in the 9th century. It covers around 320 km from Oviedo to Santiago, passing through mountains and rural landscapes, crossing two stunning regions: Asturias and Galicia. Cities worth a longer stop: Oviedo and Lugo.
✓ Ideal for those seeking solitude, a deeper connection with nature (mountains and small villages), and a physical challenge (this is often said to be the toughest Camino).
✓ Its mountain landscapes, tranquility, and historical authenticity.
✓ Summer (June–August) and late spring (May). As the route crosses mountainous areas, winter can be very cold and dangerous due to snow.
✓ In summer, the long days and pleasant temperatures are ideal for enjoying the landscapes.
